I have a primary database esprdgpr and standby database esprdgdr.
When i issue a switch logfile at esprdgpr, i can see logfiles being generated and applied at esprdgdr. At esprdgdr i'm using real time apply. I can even perform a switchover from esprdgpr to esprdgdr.

Problem arises when i esprdgdr becomes primary. Whenever i perform switch logfile, the logfiles are not generated at esprdgpr and the following error occurred "ORACLE Instance esprdgdr - Archival Error".
Here is my config for both sites;
ESPRDGDR:
standby_archive_dest =/archlog/data
log_archive_dest_state_2=enable
log_archive_dest_2 ='service=esprdgpr valid_for=(online_logfile,primary_role) db_unique_name=esprdgpr lgwr sync affirm mandatory reopen=300'
log_archive_dest_1=LOCATION=/archlog/data
log_archive_config=dg_config=(esprdgdr,esprdgpr)

ESPRDGPR:
standby_archive_dest =/archlog/data
log_archive_dest_state_2=enable
log_archive_dest_2 ='service=esprdgdr valid_for=(online_logfile,primary_role) db_unique_name=esprdgdr lgwr sync affirm mandatory reopen=300'
log_archive_dest_1=LOCATION=/archlog/data
log_archive_config=dg_config=(esprdgdr,esprdgpr)

I believer there is some network issue, but i cannot prove it. Any ideas would be appreciated. FYI, i can tnsping esprdgpr and esprdgdr from both sides.

thanks

It could be network problem then.
Remove the mandatory clause from archival destination,because every 300 sec it would write error log.

Remove already, but how can i show it's network related issue. Is there any tool that i can check the network? Just to double confirm that DG uses ONLY port 1521 as specified in tnsnames.ora rite?

thanks

Try SCP or FTP to confirm..

Its not a deal if it would then it would throw the Listener doesnot know the connect descriptor or something like that but your configuration doesnt throws that error.

Hi, we are only using port 1521, all connect descriptor is connect as i can sqlplus to all sites. However there is one fully thing, if i do a ftp from primary to dr site, i put a hash into the ftp, i can see that i hangs. But if i use sftp it goes thru.

But is ftp related to DG log transferring process?

regards;

After some investigation, I found out that the checksum on the archivelog transfer from primary to dataguard is not the same. Is this normal, or is there some network related issue?

Hi;
Size is the same, i mean the checksum value is different. Is there something wrong?

For example when i do a $cksum 1_172_627430911.dbf on node 1, i will have the following result;
bash-3.00$ cksum /archlog/data/1_172_627430911.dbf
4266787365 1024 /archlog/data/1_172_627430911.dbf

When i do the same at node 2, i will have the following result;
bash-3.00$ cksum /archlog/data/1_172_627430911.dbf
1145965913 1024 /archlog/data/1_172_627430911.dbf

As you can see here the cksum value is not the same. This is not correct right?

regards
