Hi,

While trying to tnsping data base from client (stand alone machine), I am facing a typical issue, it is pinging the server first time, but in course of time, it stops pinging server, throwing an error message like, 'TNS-12571: TNS:packet writer failure'. The events are captured below:

Attempting to contact (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=jit)(PORT=1521))
OK (390 msec)

G:\>tnsping80 jit

By using 'lsnrctl trace 1 & 2', I have documented the trace file also. The content of trace file is captured below:

ntnwr: failed to write 113 bytes
ntn2err: error: handle=372, op=6, nt[0]=530, nt[1]=0
nspsend: transport write error
nscon: error sending NSPTRF packet
nserror: nsres: id=8, op=67, ns=12571, ns2=12560; nt[0]=530, nt[1]=0, nt[2]=0; ora[0]=0, ora[1]=0, ora[2]=0

ntt2err: soc 388 error - operation=5, ntresnt[0]=524, ntresnt[1]=997, ntresnt[2]=0

Could any body guide me regarding this issue, whether it is related to port # 1521 or some thing else.

Base upon above I suspect a hardware/network problem.

Hi,

This may not be related to network issue or even hardware issue, b'coz I am trying this in a stand alone machine, i.e., Oracle database and client is installed in same machine. And also, couple of months back, I was successful to connect Oracle database with same configuration from developer 2000, but unfortunately, after a fresh installation of both database and client, this issue has come up. Also, I tried to tnsping Oracle database by shutting down my McAfee Firewall. It also didn't work. Even, I failed to connect database from TOAD also, as it is using D2K home as default.

So, please guide me what to do more from my side, other than uninstalling the products ans re-install them.
