YOU HAVE TO:
- set your ORACLE_HOME
- set your ORACLE_SID (if you want to connect to a local database)
- include $ORACLE_HOME/bin in your PATH

Regards
Michel

Did you export the variables?
Is /home/oracle your home directory?
Does your shell (which one is is it?) read this file?

My first post said:

You didn't.

Btw, code tags are with [] not <> and "Preview Message" button is there to check your message before posting.
