SQL> select (sysdate-startup_time) uptime from v$instance;

    UPTIME
----------
808.090463

SQL> !uptime
  4:47pm  up 1738 day(s), 18:45,  4 users,  load average: 0.04, 0.02, 0.03

Now no fudging the results!

I'm going to send that to our hardware admins, who come every few weeks with their "we have to re-boot the disk clusters now, shut everything dow, dude." Wink
