hai
this is ram,
i am user oracle 9.2, i have to create a user function, and can i use that function with any view

i am writing a function to sum the quantity of a particular item using item code.

and i am using that function in a view can i use it
can any body help me...

You can, but it will generally perform less well than the plain SQL equivalent.
