I suggest you use the Oracle ODBC provider for ADO, because this one supports the Oracle data types. At Metalink, you'll find several examples.
If you cannot access metalink, here's another (less elegant) solution from Microsoft. If I understand correctly, the Microsoft version (which you most probably are using) doesn't support LOBs, so it uses a workaround.
My advice: switch to the Oracle ODBC provider. You can find it here.
