You don't export, you copy back your files when your system will be up or on another server (with the same directory tree if possible).
Then use oradim to create a service for your instance and startup.

I'm sorry if I misunderstood the question and the very first answer, but I'd like to know why is it possible to COPY files using DOS, but impossible to perform EXPORT?

As I understood it, Windows is broken and it won't boot. Fine. So you boot the computer using a bootable floppy disk (for example) and, as soon as you have the command prompt, do something like this:
A:\> set tns_admin = c:\oracle\cfg
A:\> c:\oracle\bin\exp scott/tiger@mydb file=scott.dmp

Wouldn't that work too? ./fa/1600/0/

export requires the database to be up & online.
So if the database will start, then export should work.

LittleFoot,

If I understood clearly his state.
He can't start Windows but has access to DOS (maybe from a rescue disk).
So he can't start the database (which means starting Windows services) but has physical access to the files.
So he can copy/backup/save the files somewhere, in case of a disk format is needed and then restore them after fixing its Windows problem.

Regards
Michel
