Hi Experts

I am facing a problem.
I am working on a package in which we have a 6 procedures.
In the last procedure I am invoking first procedure in the following way.

The environment is Oracle 9.2.0 on UNIX Platform.
it gives us errors message ORA-29284.

The following things I have checked for the Error code 29284
1.The directory value is ok in Dba_directories Table.
2.The Utl_file_dir parameter also shows the
value of the same directory name.
3.Initially Last three files named 'AFNI','CB','CSDI' were
missing from the directory of Unix system .I assumed that this
may be the reason, then remaining three files also put into the
directory .But the result is same "Ora-29284".
4.Then I checked the permission of the files on the Unix
operating system. It has -rw-r--r-- permissions for all the
5.This problem is in the Production environment. The same Package
I created in development environment and used the same files
from Production environment with the same permissions.
It executes here properly without any error.
when I executed the Procedure in Development environment here
by removing the read permissions of files it given me
error Ora-29283 which is Invalid operation for the file which
exists. The same error it given if I changed the file name
which is not in the directory.

It did not given me the error code Ora-29284 .

From this it is clear if file does not exist it gives Ora-29283.
My questions here are

1.When it will give the error code Ora-29284 (file read error)?
2.what other things I should check for the solution of the
problem ?

If any one want to see the code of the package it is also attached.
can some one help me to solve the problem ?

Thanks in Advance

Probably not it, but did you grant read, write on the directory to the user who is executing?
