Hi Mahesh,
Though I run the file utlsampl.sql, I am not able to connect to scott.I dont know whether the user is created or not.One more thing.When open sql prompt,generally it will prompt for userid,password and connect string.I want to connect as sys user.So I entered userid sys
password ****
connection string abc
It is showing that connect as sysdba.So I connected to system user and then after I logged in.I connected to sys as
connect sys/****@abc as sysdba;
I am able to connect in this way, but when I login,how should I connect directly.I would be thankful,if anybody help me.
regards,
shastri

If you are trying with sqlplusw then you can enter as follows when you get the login dialog

username : sys
password : password
hoststring: abc as sysdba
where abc is your connection identifier
