Is this an Oracle question?

Press the "Return" or "Enter" key.

Sorry guys...I'll try to give the clear picture.

I have the table EMP and the field ADDRESS is varchar2...

Now, I should add the value in ADDRESS field like this :

23, Natesan Street,
Pondy Bazzar,

Chennai - 45

In the insert statement, how to mention the break between the two lines and how to come for the next line...

(i.e.) When I try to display the value thru select statment, it should display with the breaks...

Now you show us what you want, can you show what is the actual value?
What is the criteria to insert a new line?

Michel

insert into emp (<columns>, address)
values (<column-values>, '23, Natesan Street,
Pondy Bazzar,

Chennai - 45');

or replace newlines by chr(10):
insert into emp (<columns>, address)
values (<column-values>, '23, Natesan Street,'||chr(10)||'Pondy Bazzar,'||chr(10)||chr(10)||'Chennai - 45');
