hi
i need help to activate my database created on version oracle 8.0.5.
first i have saved folder database of my databse with all files.
then i have install new windows 2000 server with oracle 8.1.7
how to restore my database

Two "differences" exist; either of which could be a complete show stopper.
1) Using V8.1.7 binaries to open V8.0 datafiles
2) I doubt V8.0 was certified on Win2K
I'd bet that the OP will NOT get the V8.0 datafiles to allow ALTER DATABASE OPEN;
