I am trying to insert a folder path eg c:\program files\... into my insert statement. How will write the statement in full to include in the folder path? Do you use single quote ' ?

eg. insert into tablename (employee_id, folder_path) values (12345, 'C:\program files\employer\employee.xls')

Also I got the message "ORA-00984: column not allowed here". Why does this error occur? Please advise

scott@orcl>create table tname(emid int,folder_path varchar2(1000));

Table created.

scott@orcl>insert into tname values (12345, 'C:\program files\employer\employee.xls')
  2  /

1 row created.

scott@orcl>select * from tname;

---------- ----------------------------------------
     12345 C:\program files\employer\employee.xls
