I need some help, I am trying to import a dmp file. First I need to patch up Oracle to 9.2.0.6.0 Right now I only have the patches 9.2.0.4.0 and 9.2.0.6.0. I do not have the patches in between. Can anyone help me find them, and also do you think I need them? I have looked everywhere. Please help!!!

Hello, I have a few questions about importing a database.
1. can I import from oracle 9.2.0.6.0 to a oracle 9.2.0.1.0? Or do I need to patch it up.
2. What are the steps to import a database. I have a log file and the dmp file. I am not sure how to do this. Any help would greatly be appriciated. I really don't know oracle databases that much.
Thank you

Hi,

1.AFAIK, yes you can do without apply any patch.
2.On command prompt ( c:\> / $)

$imp help=y

or search on board for example.

Taj

As for patching up oracle to 9.2.0.6.0... from 9.2.0.1.0 the only patch i have is 9.2.0.4.0 and 9.2.0.6.0.... can I just use the 9.2.0.6.0 patch? or do i need the ones that come before that?

Hi,
Yes, you can use '9.2.0.6.0' Patch. no need to apply '9.2.0.4.0' when you apply higher patch.

Always apply higher patch set for database.

New question... When importing a DB to a new DB... does the names of the importing DB have to be the same as the exporting DB?
