How to set the desired session timezone? Thought of adding a trigger as follows on logon:

execute immediate
'alter session set timezone = ''Europe/Berlin'''

But discarded it as login will be at risk in case of any issues. Is there any other way to set the session timezone for each session when it is created?

Let me know if I clearly understand.
You want to automatically set the time but you don't want to do it with logon trigger (but you know logon trigger is the way to do it).
You're searching for another way to automatically set the time zone at logon time.

The only other way is to do it in your applications.

Have to agree with Michel, the article was straight to the point and should solve the problem without to much fuss. Going to try play around with it myself tomorrow morning first thing. We've got different organizations across time zones so this may be of use.
