Whether the ordering of the composite index key matters
for example if i am having cus_id and anum(arabic numeric) whether the performance will differ if i place cus_id first and anum next or vice-versa.
Pls give me your opinion..
Thanks
Sib

It depends:
- on your query, espacially where clause (did you always use both columns or sometimes only one?)
- on your data distribution in these columns (are there repetition? can you take advantage of compression?)
- on your DML statements if you use compression (types, frequency...)

Michel

Before I'm telling something, tell me what you already know, what you already read, so I don't have to explain the same thing another time.
