Is there a way I can create a input box where a value is entered
and retrieve some result (similar to input box in visual basic)
for forms 6i, my goal is when in enter-query mode a pop up box appears requesting a value for an item once you hit enter closes the box

Oracle Forms already includes this functionality: when in ENTER QUERY mode, Forms waits for you to enter a filter value into any of available items (or more of them) and execute query.

Restricting Forms to accept only one value would be a drawback and, in a way (creating this additional item), overhead.
