V$ views are views of DBA users.

Connect as '/ as sysdba' to your instance and select the view searching for instance_name column.

Look at this for other v$ views

your sid is most probably XE (I believe it is the default for 10g Express Edition).

v$ views are views owned by SYS, and are used to see all kinds of stuff about the database, metadata, etcetera.
If you don't know what a view is, don't worry. Chapter n of your book will tell Wink

Do NOT connect as sysdba if you don't know what you are doing.

Thank you.

The path in my system is different from yours. There are so many folders. It takes so much time to search. So far, I get nothing.
Is it in C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server?

Anyone use oracle database express 10.2.0?
