I am trying to create a procedure to zip a file in a directory. Can anybody help me how to start..

You have Java classes that can do that. Search on Google.
Create a Java and PL/SQL stored procedures with this class and use it.

I am doing as you suggested and pretty close to solution

I was curious if we could do this without using Java or C functions. Only using Oracle packages..
