Another question: what is the difference between an expert and a novice ? You should have posted this in the newbies forum.

Sqlldr is a specialised utility for loading flat files into Oracle tables. UTL_FILE is used within PL/SQL to read and write flat files. SQLLDR will in general be faster to load data, especially if you use direct path mode.
