Hi,

Oracle Version - 9.2
temporary tablesace - EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL & UNIFORM SIZE

I have a single temp_file in a temporary tablespace, and the file is around 20GB and also auto extend.

1. Is there any adavantage in re-creating the temporary tablespace?

2. Is there any disadvantage by having the auto-extend?

I understand that, I need to have multiple files to stripe over multiple disk files and speed-up sorting.

Brian

Tempfiles will be reused. No need to have AUTOEXTEND on tempfiles.
If you have it, they would continously grow.

And, if your File os in a RAID array, then it will be striped over multiple disks anyway
