i am using oracle 8i, when try to connect my database thro' toad, i could not connect by database, the following error has come
ORA-12541: TNS:no listener oracle 8i
pls help

Hi,
ORA-12541: TNS:no listener oracle 8i
Normally ORA-12541 is comes when LISTENER IS STOP.
so first check your listener is start.
if start then are you able to connect from SQLPLUS.
if yes then set TNS_ADMIN envioument variable on command prompt
