A Materialized View is a structure that stores the results of a query as a table that can be refreshed after the base tables of the queries are modified.

There is no such thing as an Aggregate, at least not in Oracle.

Perhaps just a confusion about the types of Materialized View?

As in ... http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96520/mv.htm#42135 ... "Types of Materialized Views"
