Hi,
I have a string like table_name.column_name.I want to separate table_name and column_name.i have tried substr function. But it takes position argument and neither all table names nor the column names are of same length. So i cant give the position.

how to do it?
Thanks & regards,

Combine your substr with instr. You can use instr to determine the position of the dot.
