I want to define the editor in sqlplus with
define_editor='c:winntsystem32edit.com'
and it works just fine, it changes the editor to edit.com so I stay in a dos window. But, I the change to be made permanent, so it remains for the next time I use sqlplus. As it is, it only lasts as long as my session. Please help! Thanks,

Simply put that line into login.sql in your current directory(working dir) where you invoke sqlplus from.
SQL> ed login.sql
