My table has data like the foll.

Grade Percent
A 10
B 20
A 20
B 50
A 70
B 70
A 30
B 40

I need to get the maximum percent and get the grade corresponding to that. However if both A and B have the maximum percent (in this case they do - for 70) then A has precedence over B so I need to return A.

Please give me a query for the above.

Please do you own homework & stop expectng others to solve YOUR problems.
ONLY for someone who just learned to spell SQL, is this an "EXPERT" question.
