Hi folks!

I've been looking around, and asking uncle google, if thee is a way of using variables & input parameters within CTL files.
Specifically, It'd be useful if I could define a couple of values to be inserted in two columns, along with all the other values (in their respective columns), in a CTL file. I cannot change the DAT file, because it is supplied by another dept.

I haven't found anything saying it can be done, but I'd like to have someone tell me it can't before I stop searching Cool

thanks all

Could you give a small example of what exactly you try to achieve?

Ok then.

Imagine I have this CTL:

LOAD DATA
INTO TABLE EMP
WHEN (1:1) = 'D'
TRAILING NULLCOLS
(
EMPID POSITION(2:5) CHAR ":EMPID",
...
FILESEQNUM {file sequence number, available on the header row}
...
)

thanks for your trouble
