primary and standby can have same name.

I am not sure why database is shutting down. Are you seeing any errors in alert.log which can give us some clue? Are you following all the documentation and made sure that you have everything you need for max protection?

hello
i did everything by the documentation , created standby redo log files, same size as the primary +1, change the log_archive_dest_n parameter to use lgwr ....
i get an error when i change protection mode to maximum protection and try to open the database in my alert file:
ora-16072 saying that one standby database is required or other errors about standby log files eben that both exists
plz advise

Are you certain the the standby logs are EXACTLY the same size? Have you checked the alert log on the standby database?
