i have serious problem with the attached script, it is taking hell lot of time, say to update about 2000 records, it is taking about 1:15 mins, at the same time i have to update about 6millions of records...plz help me to sort out the performance issue.

Your phrasing is a bit unclear. Do you mean you are updating 6 million records using a different application at the same time as running this one, which updates 2000 ? Or do you just mean that this application is currently updating 2000 but is supposed to update 6 million ?

No... i am updating in the same application which updates only 2000 records in 1:15 mins.
