Good Morning All,
Actually,I have question regarding Oracle8i installation.I already installed oracle8i software(Client)on local machine.But,my system shows TNS Protocol error.So,Can you please solve my problem? I really need brief details about installation.

What is the exact error message ? What version & platform is your database server ?

Are you check Oracle Service is start or not...
if stop then start and try
and you have to set some enviourment variable because you have already client on some server where you install Server.

You installed an obsolete Oracle version - Oracle 8 is desupported for years now. But OK - if you need it, I won't complain about it.

But, are you sure you wanted to install Oracle Client? It is NOT a database. If you are at home, installed Oracle 8 Client on your PC, you won't be able to successfully connect because you don't have a database to connect to.

So: did you, actually, want to install Server instead?
