please tell me why i am kicked out of my sql session when i say ;desc sometable'.
Same thing happens when i use set pause on and execute any sql commands.
Help is highly appreciated.

Well, I couldn't answer your other post (same question with a different name - please don't do that on this board) because there is not nearly enough information provided. It sounds though like there is some internal corruption in your database or data dictionary.

If you suspect your data dictionary corruption then try this..
conn with some other user and give the same command, if the problem persists then take full export of your database and run catalog.sql again.
