I have colum applicantname which is varchar .
there are some records with single quotes
as D'souza,appi's son
i want to replace all single quotes by another character in oracle 8
please help me out

Use two single quotes to represent a double quote:
foobar SCOTT> l
  1* select replace ('that''s all folks','''','X') from dual
foobar SCOTT> /

REPLACE('THAT''S
----------------
thatXs all folks

However, this is no expert question.
