hi all,

pls guide us if my production server (live) database goes down, due to any technical failure ... what steps are needed to get my Production database beack on track .. and till my production is down i want all my users to get connected to my physical standby database which should act as Primary at this point of time ...
waiting for some replies ...

what physical data guard model you have? what oracle version are you on?

If you have maximum protection mode enabled and you are 9.2 and above, with data guard broker setup, you can actually automate complete process.

You can also make all tnsnames.ora entries with TAF and so users will be able to get to new primary(which was standby before) after crash of orignial primary.
