hello
i know that oracle 10g and the listener starts automatically on windows server, but its not the case on unix based machine like AS400
how to configure automatic startup for the database and listener on system startup

I have not worked with AS400. So do not know the exact procedure on AS400.
Generally, Oracle supplies two scripts.
dbstart and dbshut in ORACLE_HOME/bin
These scripts look into oratab file (location varies depending on OS).
Depending on entries in oratab, dbstart/dbshut will start /shut the database.
Edit dbstart and supply the location/name of listener.

Schedule this dbstart/dbshut along with system startup routines (rc.d files)
or
You can easily write a new one.
