suppose i have a database named "orcl" on server A,
i installed an oracle server on another host called B and created a database named aslo "orcl" ,
i shutdown the database on host B and restore a cold backup copy of database "orcl" that resides on host A including the parameter file control files ..everything..

would it run and be a complete clone of database "orcl" on host A?

Sure....assuming the path names were the same. Otherwise, you'd have to do some additional mods.
