hi all,

i setup sql_trace...

and then i issue the following:

alter session set timed_statistics=true;

alter session set sql_trace=true;

select *
from emp e,dept d
where e.deptno=d.deptno;

alter session set sql_trace=false;


i go into command line ...

c:\oracle\ora90\orats\admin\udump>

tkprof ora01142.trc rpt.txt

it give error:

'tkprof' command unkown.....

from where you issue tkprof cmd.
it is not sql cmd.
sql>tkprof >>>>> wrong approach.

issue "tkprof" cmd on command prompt.
or in sql Use "host" keyword.
like
sql>host tkprof ........

It is your environment.
Make sure you have a proper ORACLE_HOME defined and ORACLE_HOME/bin is in your PATH

hi,
try searching for the file tkprof, then at the commandline go to that directory then run tkprof.

Read Mahesh's comment. That is the way to do it. Make sure you use the proper environment.

i search for 'tkprof' file in the entire oracle_home ,
especially,in the 'bin' folder
but i find nothing ....

i have oracle9i.0.1

tkprof is found on the databaseSERVER, not on a client.

i work oracle personaly all applications in only my own computer
and then i have databaseSERVER ,
i try again but i still not found the 'tkprof' file ...

First, verify the tkprof.exe in your machine. If not availble, something missing during your installation. If you manage the database on your own, better revisit your installation and add the missing utilities using custom installation.

I am seeing a tkprof.exe in my 9.2 $ORACLE_HOME/bin like Makesh pointed.

please,can anyone attack 'tkprof.exe' file ,
and the file is taken from oracle9i.0.1
to become compatible with my version ......

hi,
as suggest by "admin" why are you not install again ur tkprof.exe files. from ur installation cds.

i hope you have ur installation cds.

tkprof.exe is utility and i will automatically install when we install oracle software.

I searched for the file in install's CD

but i fall in the same problem,
I find NOTHING

hi,
In which CD.

Oracle Server.
or
Oracle Client.


tkprof.exe in Oracle Server.

and you have to reinstall ur oracle software ( oracle server not oracle client).
