Hi,

I have oracle 9.0.1 database on my system OS is XP. Another system having Oracle 10g and OS is LINUX. Being on XP system when trying to connect to oracle10g. I am getting then error TNS-12560 Tns Protocol error.

Steps I tried

1. From XP system with net manager I tried to create a service name. then on last step while test connection I got said error.

2. I made a mannual entry in tnsname.ora then also same error.

3. tnsping 145.167.6.105(Linux server)
also ginving same error

Can any one suggest some steps for this error.

Go through below link

or check oracle service.

cmd>sqlplus/nolog
sql>conn / as sysdba
connected to idle instance.
sql>startup


or

start>run>services.msc >>>> then trun automatic Oracle service "db_name"

cmd>net start oracleserviceOrcl

Hi,

This is working. Even working fine with another database on some other system with os windows . able to connect with own database.

Problem with oracle10g on Linux system.

check ur $oracle_home\network\admin\tnsnames.ora

if oracle_sid is there then u can use

SERVICE_NAME

Try this and let me know

after running :

servece iptables stop

in Linux then I am able to connect to Oracle Database


Please suggest some step to configure Linux ( iptables)
