Dear all,

I have installed Oracle 9i Enterprise Edition. It is loaded in E: drive. but the problem is that when I am installing Developer 2000(Forms and Reports).

Error comes 'The location specified ," E:\oracle\ora90", is already used as an oracle home for Oracle 82 beta. It cannot be used an Oracle home for 'nt.''

Now the problem is that when I give home for D2K as d:\oracle\ora90 , then it is some other errors???

Please help.

You mean, is it creating more errors?
If so,Post the error.
You need a different ORACLE_HOME for each Oracle product installation.
You can even use E:\oracle\d2k for Developer2000 etc.

If you loaded the Oracle database into E:\oracle\ora90 and you loaded the Forms into e:\oracle\d2k then you have correctly loaded the two Oracle systems. They MUST be loaded into different directories and different Oracle Homes.

Nothing; start using D2K Wink

However, you might face a problem that Forms (for example) will not be able to connect to the database because of TNS problems. There is a shortcut to it - go to "E:\oracle\ora90\network\admin" directory, copy TNSNAMES.ORA and SQLNET.ORA and paste them into "E:\oracle\d2k\network\admin" directory. That should do it.

[EDIT] Don't cross-post the same question over the Forum; your topics have been merged.

----ORACLE_HOME
----ORACLE1
name data
----ORACLE_HOME E:\oracle\ora90
----ORACLE2

Search the forum. That is what you need to do first. Smile.
Then search google and documentation.
Make sure you have ORACLE_HOME properly defined (ORACLE_HOME = E:\oracle\ora90 is for database) and ORACLE_HOME/bin is in your PATH

You can do it any number of times you want, but it is not going to improve anything here. Smile
All we asked is to make sure these environmental variables are correctly set in your machine.

Every client installation will have its own sqlplus.exe.
Use the correct sqlplus.exe from appropriate start programs/menu.
or
goto command prompt.
cd E:\oracle\ora90\bin.
sqlplus user/pass
or
set ORACLE_HOME=YOURHOME
SET PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin.
sqlplus user/pass
I am simulating the same in unix machine.
oracle@mutation#echo $ORACLE_HOME
/u01/app/oracle/product/9.2.0

Dear Mahesh,

I am very thankfull to you for your kind help. I have solved the problem and start working.

I am developing application software for Home Finance System.

I am accepting that I have very little knowledge of DBA. I passed OCP 1Z0-007 with 90% marks and going towards application developer track.I will mail you if I will face any DBA related problem.
