Hi all,

I am trying to send email from pl/sql by using util.smtp pkg.

getting the following error:

-29278 ORA-29278: SMTP transient error: 421 Service not available

PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.

but SMTP server is up and running fine.

any other services required to up in local system?
what might be the reason for getting this error?

Thanks in advance,
Supriya

Some questions:
  1. Oracle version?
  2. How are you executing the procedure (sql*plus, TOAD, ...)
  3. Are you using a dedicated server? (check tnsnames.ora)
  4. Are you connecting with the correct authentication information?
