Hi All

We have a system developed with Oracle 8i & Visual Basic 6. Its been installed in user's pc, but now they have change their pc's. Now, when they run that system they are getting the error: -214746725ORA -12154:TNS:Could not resolve service name.

We tried to resolve this by uninstalling the Oracle, and re-install Oracle again in their PC's. But the Problem is still there.

Can somebody ps help me. I need to resolve this soon.

thank you Smile

Ahh... CT.

The PC may have one or more tnsnames.ora files on it depending on how many Oracle products you have installed. The tnsnames.ora file is the usual mechanism for resolving the network address of the database you are trying to connect to. From a DOS window - do a "tnsping <database name>". You should get a similar error to the ORA-12154. It'll should also tell you the path to the tnsnames file it's using. Copy a working version of the tnsnames.ora file from another PC to the problem one and try again. The sqlnet.ora settings (in the same directory) can also have an impact - especially NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN

Determining which tnsnames.ora file gets used can be a long description...
