How to set OFF the option "Display Substitution Variables" [message #196088] Wed, 04 October 2006 01:54 Go to next message

I do the query to extract data from Oracle through a script file and output to a file using command in Shell. This script file needs to pass a parameter as input, because of this parameter, the output displays 2 lines which specify Substitution Variables. I want to remove those lines.

I log in to iSql*Plus to set this option as off. But it still displays those extra lines. After I log out and log in again, I see that this option is still set to ON.

Could someone tell me how to set off this option? Or which parameter I need to specify in my command to switch off this option? Thanks!

Do you mean this sort of thing ?

old 1: select '&fred' from dual
new 1: select '3' from dual

If so, you need "set verify off".
