Hi there,

We are having a rather peculiar problem. When we run our application which generates various reports in the comma seperated value .csv format one of them appends a line as the nth + 1 record as "input truncated to 13 characters"

We have tried numerous variations of the carriage return solution as found in this forum - adding a CR, adding whitespace, and using
chr(10)
&
chr(13)
in the script.

BUT when we manually run the script through SQL+ the terminal outputs the correct number of n records with no "input truncated" message! We had a similar script which exhibited this problem which seemes to have resolved itself rather miraculously through a seemingly irrelevant code edit -> changing an
order by
clause from
order by x_date
to
order by to_char(x_date)
. we tried this change to the problematic script but to no avail.

any help on this would be greatly appreciated

thanks,

TD.

This usually means that you've got a line appended to the file after the last command with some (in this case 13) spaces in it.

I see what you are saying but we have also run this with no lines appended and no whitespace with still the same result! is there anywhere else we could even look at to find out what is going on?

thanks for the swift response!

Metalink note 1008871.6 covers this.
I'd post the details, but I've had my knuckles rapped for that before (it's copyrighted info)
