Hello,

Is there an option somewhere in Oracle DB to allow or disallow certain JOIN styles (old join with where condition or new join style with ON conditions).

The reason why I am asking is that I have a code has been running smoothly for 3 months. All of a sudden it stopped running and it just hangs. The DBA told me to change my join style from the new style (ON) to the old style (WHERE) and everything worked fine.

Is this a problem that is nees/produced by software patch? or some option parameter?

Hy guess is that you introduced a bug with one of the queries - something like a cartesean join maybe?

When the system "hangs" - check to see what other active sessions are doing:
