Hi,

I am using DBMS_OUTPUT.ENABLE (500000) in one of my PL/SQL block code for generating reports.

THe PL/SQL block is ececuting fine.

My question do I need to call DISABLE procedure if I want to reset the buffersize to use 5000.

There's no need to DISABLE it first; just set new buffer size, just like in this example:
begin
  dbms_output.enable(5000);

  for i in 1 .. 200 loop
    dbms_output.put_line(i);
  end loop;

  dbms_output.enable(5000);
end;

If you want to reset it to default size (20000),then you use
exec dbms_output.disable;

But if you want to reset to 5000, then you need to use

exec dbms_output.enable(5000);

Thanks for the answer.

I am using DBMS_OUTPUT.ENABLE(1000000) in a PL/SQL which will be executed to generate report.

I am executing this PL/SQL block from sqlplus session.

I have my serveroutput set to 200000 in SQLPLUS.

if I run my PL/SQL block will it set serveroutput to 1000000 after executing PL/SQL block procedure from sqlplus or not.
