Hi all,

One of the user getting the following error when tries to install oracle 9i client using Oracle Universal Installer.

"Error writing to the directory C:\Documents and Settings\xxxx\Local Settings\Tem.Please ensure this directory is writable and atleast 32 mb of disk space.Installation cannot continue"


i checked his hardisk and 75% is free and he's got 29gb space left.


any idea would be great!

checked the cd and it's fine.the same cd used succesfully in another machine same morning.

Still not sure what causing it.

Does this directory exits? If not, would it help if you create it? Besides that, does this user have required privileges to write onto the disk? Administrator privileges would be fine.

he's installing it as admin user and he has this directory available.

As there's plenty of free space on the disk, try to copy the whole CD into a directory on the hard disk (let's call it "c:\inst_ora"). Instead of using the Universal Installer, go to "inst_ora\install\win32" directory and run SETUP.EXE found in there.

Hi Ashish,
I am having the same trouble when I try to install Discoverer 10g. This is driving me crazy.

can you please tell me what you did to fix the error ? Do I need to install this from CD?

hi,

some problem happen with me when i was install oracle 9i Server.
may be it is due to cd corruptions. when i am using new cd. error is gone.

If you have new cd then try...


and you can try another option. already suggested by "littlefoot"
try to copy the whole CD into a directory on the hard disk


should be work.
