I have Oracle 9i Release 2 running on Server with 4 GB RAM and I was facing frequent TNS Internal Limit exceeded problem. I converted the server on Shared mode and now the problem has resolved.

But I am facing a another problem SGA is restricted to just 1.4 GB of RAM and the system is having only Oracle 9i on it.

How do I increase the SGA size to increase the performance ?

The database was configured by the previous DBA who has left.

Please help me.

Why do you think that SGA increment will improve your application performance?

My buffer cache hit ratio is very low 50-60 percent.

But when I try to increase the size of the SGA is says insufficient memory.

I have 4 GB RAM and Total system including 1.39 GB used by Oracle is not more than 1.6 GB.

How do I optimize it ?

Thanks in advance.

warm regards,

Pankaj

>My buffer cache hit ratio
BCHR is a meaningless indicator of performance.

Try tuning your SQL statements first ( before increasing SGA )

You could start by reading & understaning the fine Database Performance and Tuning Guide found at
http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14211/toc.htm
