Problem on Combo Box [message #184265]

I have a list item combo box, no initial value assigned for it. When I insert record it is activated so I can select an item. Then I press arrow down or click the mouse on the next column so that again the combo will be activated.
The problem is when I go back up without any entry on that row, that is I changed my mind and decided not to put entry on that row, the combo box still active and having it's first item displayed. Because of this, system considered this as an entry and will be saved. What should I do?

are the properties of this field set to MANDATORY?

The combo box set required at runtime so as the other fields if needed. Upon insert as my problem arise, the combo box is required (MANDATORY).

try setting the combo box to required=n at runtime and check if data had be entered in the WHEN-VALIDATE-RECORD trigger.

maybe this helps ...
