Hi,
I have tried creating a database link in ORACLE 8i from one db to other db (remote). When I tried to select a remote object with the link name it says TNS could not resolve service name. When I create a db link from the same db to the same db it is working fine. why is it so ?. I am able to connect to the two different databases. I have the services defined in my tnsnames.ora I have services for both the dbs defined. I tried from enterprise manager also. but it is giving the same problem. Is it because the databases are not installed using distributed options. I understand some people are pulling data from these databases.

Urgent solution required. Pl post your replies to my mail id
