Hi
We have an issue where client pc's are losing connection to Oracle server with a "03114" message. I have read the info about SQL NET and dropped connections (DCD) if there's no response from a probe keepalive. The question is ....
Is a probe packet a "ping" packet. The reason is that we have ICMP's blocked across the network for security reasons but when we sniff the network we see 1514 byte ICMP's sent out every 5 minutes from the server to the client. The client can't respond because of the access list block. Could this be a reason for the drops ?
Thanks in advance

Colin

it could very well be. Whats your SQLNET.EXPIRE_TIME value ? Is it 5 minutes ?
When you have configured Dead Connection Detection( DCD) , Oracle is going to terminate the associated Server process when it doesnt receive any response from the client to it's probe packet.
