Hi...Barbara
How can I reset the variable (say a) to its initial value if regno changes from 2001% to 2002%, 2003% etc.....also I want to reset the same variable again if another field (faculty) in another table(grn) changes. All the required data I get in a cursor. (I wonder how can I get the following output.. ) Please guide and thanks for giving time..

Please disregard my comments about the e-mails and the threads. It looks like I got the e-mail before the post was visible and didn't realize that the e-mail was just a copy of the post and when I saw the second post I was viewing the posts by date and didn't realize that it was posted on the same thread. You did everything correctly. Sorry for the confusion. Too much multi-tasking on my part. I think it's time for me to take a break.
