can oracle 8i get installed on winxp?

�i have oracle8i licenced version with me. we three friends were trying to install it on windows XP OS system consisting of one server and 2 clients but we were not successful. the result is that neither is it getting fully uninstalled nor installed. could someone guide us to install it on a small lan step by step, which may also include uninstallation

I want the Installtion Procedures with Graphics.
So please send the complete picture .

The problem is due to your pentium 4 chip not Windows XP. Copy the contents of the 8i CD to your HD, find and rename symcjit.dll to symcjit.old

i have install oracle 8i in winxp when i restart my computer ,oracle not found ,while starting my computer

Hi,
Check Oracle Services is start...
net start
if not listed then you have to start.
or
if start
then connect "SYSDBA" privs.
and give on SQL> prompt
SQL>startup
